Outdated technology and outdated web design ruin brand reputation
Can a website become outdated is a question that many entrepreneurs do not want to hear an answer to, especially if it is their company's website. The history is almost identical for many: they built their website 10 or 15 years ago, paid for it in 'dry gold' and no longer want to hear about new web design or moving key information to a new system.
Why worry about a website, if the business works? is a question often asked by businessmen, who do not ask the same question when it comes to renovating cars, houses, apartments for rent or stocks
Forbes Research
According to a 2024 survey conducted by Forbes magazine, there are between 1.1 and 1.5 billion websites in the world today, whether they are e-commerce, business services, or corporate websites. However, only 20% of them are currently active and are regularly updated.
Outdated technology ruins brand reputation
On the other hand, data from 2021 shows that the number of companies whose websites use outdated technology - which cannot be upgraded (!), has risen to a high of 25%. In today's terms, this would mean that there are over 275 million websites in the vastness of the Internet, which practically do more harm than good.
In 2023, more than 50% of websites used technology that was over 5 years old, which includes outdated web design, outdated versions of programming languages, an outdated content management system (CMS), and various plug-ins that can no longer or should no longer be used. Many of these sites have failed to publish a legally required cookie policy, and they do not even have basic Terms of Use.
Situation in Europe
The situation in Europe is very similar to that in the world. According to currently available data, thousands of European companies have outdated web design, which have not been renewed for years. Unfortunately, small and medium-sized companies often lag in maintaining and modernizing their web offers, and it is tough for them to decide to set up a website in multiple foreign languages.
Often, such a poor state results from limited resources or a lack of awareness of the importance of updating technology and its job opportunities.
From time to time, web designers encounter websites that haven't been redesigned for over 20 years. This practically means that on the web of their company (or brand) business entities still have the design of the early 2000s, which has a rather outdated characteristic look and (non)functionality from that period. Such a public image causes them considerable damage to both the domestic and foreign markets.
A more powerful website and increased sales
All those who recognize the importance of redesigning their website, just as they recognize the purchase of a new coat, shoes and car, are already greatly at an advantage. Modern websites that are regularly optimized by SEO and updated with news, will always statistically contribute to more competitiveness for the entire organization, and very quickly begin to affect the increase in sales, market expansion, and gaining new clients.
Otherwise, resisting web change will further collapse the existence of many brands.
